Lake Johnson Night-O  December 12, 2004

Meet Director: Gary Wiggins

According to the National Weather Service website, the moonlight was 1% the night of the meet, with 100% being a full moon. Perfect for a Night-O. I didn’t see a moon, but I think the light from encroaching development was greater than 1%. Even so, it was pretty dark out there. I believe that the turnout of 54 orienteers was the largest ever for a Night-O. Three competition levels were designed: white, yellow and green. Everyone participated on either the yellow or green course. Competition was keen on the yellow course with the Stemkovski family finishing first. Joseph Huberman was the only green course participant to find all of the controls. The team of Will Corkey and Pat Downie missed one white level control finishing only 5 points behind. There was a time limit of 60 minutes with a 10 point penalty for each minute (or part thereof) overtime. Thanks to Bill Ebenstein and Wesley Wiggins for helping with control pickup, and to Joseph Huberman for designing the courses.
