2006 Bubba/Pigmy Goat Orienteering
Event

Attention orienteers and adventure racers !! The control difficulty is slightly easier, and the course is significantly longer on the Bubba Goat-12k (not the Pigmy Goat-6k) than our regular event. This is a real head to head race through the woods. Strategy is important in choosing which controls to skip and which fork to take. We only have a "Goat" race locally once every FOUR YEARS. This is a Southeast regional event and we share the event with Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Charlotte. |
To get to the start, take exit 287 off of I-40 between Raleigh and Durham. Go north on Harrison Avenue into the Park and follow the orienteering signs to the start location.
The event will feature a 12K Bubba Goat and a 6K Pigmy Goat with the following schedule:
The Goat events differ from regular orienteering courses in the following ways:
Event T-shirts and lunch (goat type food like old tin cans, vegetarian and carnivore) are included in the registration fee for the Goat events.
The entry fee for the Goat events is $18. BOK members will receive a $6 discount. BOK members who volunteer before or during the event can participate for free (including lunch and a T-shirt).
If you are not interested in participating in either of the Goat events, a regular meet will be held with start times from Noon until 2:00 PM. Entry fees for the regular meet are the same low price as always. Lunch will be available for those participating in the regular event for $5. Lunch will be free for volunteers during the regular event.
